In order to create the best possible short film I believe its essentail to review short films that other students have created; both good and bad. This is so that I can apply similar things from good short films and try and avoid some of the things bad short films did.
A Level Media Studies Short Film- Lost:
Opening Credits:

The opening titles in this short film is very basic which straight away doesnt draw or entice the audience to continue watching.
The music used in the background doesnt need to be there as its irrelevent to the storyline, is only around 10 seconds long and is not copyright free.
Camera:
The camera skills of the students are very limitted and doesnt make the film look authentic. The camera zooms out distrotedly which makes the opening scene look unorganised and rushed.
There isnt a variety of angles used to make th film look intertesting; all angles are either medium close up or a long shot.
Sound:
The sound is the worst part of the film as the talking is very quite and overpowered by the ambient sounds. The actors rarely spoke and when speaking was involved it was quiet and had no effort behind it.
Editting:

The editting in the films is slow and basic. The part where the gilr is walking needs to be cut around 2 seconds at the start so that it looks like shes been walking for a long time and not just started walking becuase the camera started rolling.
The text layered on top of the footage is basic and in horrible red colour that doesnt add anything to the scene except from showing the audience that 10 has minutes passed.
Actors:
The actors used was a problem too. They choose actors who are 1. bad at acting and 2. dont want to be in the short film. Its evident from the actors facial expressions and body language that they didnt want to be in the film as the girl in blue was laughing and was very quiet.
