CAST

The chosen lead roles in this short film and the quierky storyline is perfect for the genre of comedy/drama as the actresses are from a drama tv series called 'Pretty Little Liars'. Choosing these actors has also set their target market of 12-16 year old, middle class, American, females, with manual jobs.

CAMERA

The start of the short films includes very interesting mid close-up shots of serveral parts of a room and a blanet being waved in the air. This immeditley sets off an enigma code of why and who is waving the blanets. The audience then get to see a wide shot of the room as the camera tracks to the right and reveals several bodies under blanets. This camera angle is key for establishing the environment for the audience and then the characters that appear moments later. The main camera angles used in this short films are shot reverse shot for when the two characters are talking to each other and mid-close up shots of the converstation exchange. At the end there is a crane shot that reveals many dead bodies around the house. This shot was not only done to unease the audience and potentially make thm gasp but to symboloise the dead bodies spirits slowly travelling up to heaven.

SOUND

The first sound the audience hear is a male voice over of what sounds like a preachers speech. There is also a soundtrack playing over the top which also gives the impression that the speech is about joining a religous cult. Troughout the speech othe voices are layed on but much quiter which makes the audience feel uneased as they dont know what to listen to or whats going on.

MISE-EN-SCENE

The whole short film is set in one room. This is sometimes done in a short film as it means the audience can connect with one location in a short period of time and doesnt complicate things. The main colour the features throughout is white. The colour white connotes innocence, purity, cold, youth and weekness. All of those connotations suit this short film as its about death, the afterlife, young actors and being religious.

EDITING

There isnt many editing tecniques used in this short film as to not over complicate it. The first editing this short film has is the main title 'Immediately Afterlife'. This appear on the screen in black font on a white background. This could connote the characters themselves as they may seem pure and religious on the outside (white) but on the inside they are very much different, which is revealed further into the story (black). The next editing technique is the end credits.
